A juvenile can face serious criminal charges if he or she is accused of having committed a property crime (such as arson). If a juvenile is convicted of such charges, he or she can face major potential consequences. Thus, being accused of committing property crimes can be a very serious allegation for a juvenile to face.
Recently, a juvenile crimes case has arisen in Florida. The case involves an 11-year-old boy. The 11-year-old boy has been accused of committing arson.
Authorities allege that the boy started fires at a department store in Coral Springs, Florida on two separate occasions. Allegedly, the fires caused around $1 million in damage. According to authorities, on these two occasions, the boy started the fires by setting fire to clothing in the store with a lighter and lighter fluid.
Two charges of arson have been brought against the boy in connection to these allegations. Reportedly, the boy will be placed on home detention while this case progresses through the court system. Reportedly, as part of this detention, the boy will:
- Only be allowed to leave his home for certain things
- Be banned from having friends over to his home
- Be required to wear an electronic monitor
One wonders what will ultimately happen in this case.
As this case illustrates, when a juvenile is accused of having committed a property crime, it can lead to the juvenile facing serious criminal charges. Thus, if a juvenile is facing property crime allegations, having a strong defense can be very important.
